If you are a talented software engineer who is passionate about open source and compilers, we should love to hear from you.
Embecosm provides services developing free and open source (F/OSS) compilers for companies around the world. The architectures for which we develop compilers range from the smallest deeply embedded processors to the largest high performance computer systems. Our specialities include machine learning compilers, superoptimization, security enhanced compilers and compilers optimized to generate energy efficient code.
While previous experience is welcome, it is not a priority, and although it is highly likely you will have at least a degree, it is not essential. What you must be is provably an outstanding programmer (language does not matter), with a commitment to free and open source software. You will need either experience in compilers, or evidence of your potential in compilers (something you have done in your spare time, a student project or even that you did really well in a compiler course). A fresh graduate, with the right background would be welcome, although note the starting salary, which is an indicator of the caliber of candidate we are seeking.
Up to 10% of your time will be allocated to work on your own projects. You will contribute publicly to the F/OSS projects on which you work, as well as to Embecosm social media activity. Continuing professional development within your working practice will ensure you remain at the top of your field and keep abreast of industry developments.
You must be eligible to work in the UK and the position will involve regular international travel to customers.
Initially, you will work in our Lymington Head Office and will then have the option to work from home if you choose. New graduates are expected to work at the head office for at least the first two years of employment.
We will pay the successful candidate a starting salary of between £45 and £80k per annum. We offer an employer funded pension scheme, profit sharing bonus and a generous relocation package. Embecosm is an equal opportunities employer and we encourage applicants irrespective of age, disability, gender, race, marital status, religion or sexual orientation.
Please send your CV to Judith Jones, Operations Manager, via judith.jones@embecosm.com
Suitable candidates will be asked to take part in an initial telephone interview with Embecosm’s CEO, Dr Jeremy Bennett. If successful you will then be invited to a second interview at Embecosm’s head office in Lymington.
